Kevin Govern began his legal career as an Army Judge Advocate, serving 20 years at every echelon during peacetime and war in worldwide assignments involving every legal discipline. He has also served as an Assistant Professor of Law at the United States Military Academy and has taught at PennWest California University of Pennsylvania and John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Kevin received his B.A. from and J.D. from Marquette University, and a LL.M. from the University Of Notre Dame and an L.L.M. with an International and Operational Law Specialization from The Judge Advocate General’s School, U.S. Army.

He is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Ave Maria School of Law, Naples, FL (June 2023 – present), is a Professor of Law (2007 - present) and is the Primary instructor of Professional Responsibility, National Security Law, Military Law, and Administrative Law courses. He has developed other unique professional studies curriculum to teach over 150 Juris Doctor candidates each Academic Year, and serves as faculty supervisor for various student externships, directed research programs, and extracurricular activities.

Kevin is a 2023 graduate of the Leadership Collier program from the Greater Naples Chamber, is a Founding Executive Board Member, Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law (CERL), University of Pennsylvania, Vice-Chair, Advisory Board Member, and Volunteer of Catholic Charities of Collier County, and Governance Committee Member and Volunteer for Wounded Warriors of Collier County and also STARability Foundation.
